Even though I don’t work for someone else, my health is my top priority, as I suffer from several chronic illnesses (childhood cancer survivor). A lot of the time I get overwhelmed by the number of tasks I need to get done in my daily life, before even trying to add on my entrepreneurial endeavors. Limiting the number of goals seems like it would definitely help in helping to narrow down the focus and get things done.

A lot of good stuff in this episode! I think it’s hard not to lapse into certain roles, like Mother or Daughter, when you are with those family members. Sometimes they refuse to let you grow into the person you were meant to be. Their shadow is too intense and you need to find your own place in the sun! But, still your origins are there with them and they have a grip that it can be hard to loosen. And equally hard, if not harder, to not repeat the patterns with your own children. While holding on to all the positives that make up family. Phew! Continual work in progress I think.

One of the best pieces of advice I got about fifteenish years ago was to stop apologizing when I did nothing wrong. Even after all this time, I still find myself defaulting to it sometimes, and it’s hard to not say it, but it has also served me well in many ways. Sometimes I overthink for days if I should have said it, but I often find, I truly did nothing wrong, and it was OK to not apologize for that.

For me personally, the online work was definitely more hobby as I taught myself most of what I knew that first decade. So it was and has been fun for me. But that definitely turns unhealthy when it’s all you are doing.

You have provided some solid and sensible info here! I think when you work for yourself it is assumed that you love what you do and therefore work = fun and you should be able to do it every waking moment. But nothing is always all fun and, even if it were, you should diversify your fun to include other activities and people.

I find it encouraging that you didn’t stop working on challenges once September ended, “The motivation I got from that 30 day group coaching challenge led me to continue to stretch out of my comfort zone. It is funny you said that about live videos. I did a 30 day live video challenge over a year ago and got pretty comfortable with “going live”, but now not so much. I’m back to being in that turtle shell. Maybe it is because my brand has changed and I’m not as 100% confident as I once became. Imposter Syndrome? I like the way you explained about if you keep waiting, others that are pushing themselves more will be heard more.

It is true what you said about the motivation you get from the group, that is what keeps me going too. The Triad I had was amazing and I learned a lot about myself and my business goals.

I like the way you have gone a little more in depth about video and FaceBook live. Those are super scary to me, but I pull my motivation to try because of folks like you that show it works if you work it.

Also, it is nice to know that the Stretch Yourself Challenge is available all year around at a discount and a do it at your own pace style.

That will help folks get a feel for and a base started for the next year’s live challenge.

Val, I’ve loved watching you rock each Stretch Yourself Challenge and how you take bold action to bust through the comfort zone and level up.

At the beginning of the post you said “You can keep on waiting, but others are pushing themselves more and will be heard more. More people will find them because they took big leaps” and that’s so true.

It reminded me of something a smart friend (Kelly – go figure lol) once said:
if not now, when?
if not you, then who?

I love your purposeful approach to choosing your challenges, and how you’ve built on them from one year to the next. I truly need to stop and look at where I was before SYC 2018. Then look at where I was last year before SYC. Then where I am now. I need to appreciate that a lot more than I do 🙂 It’s HUGE strides.

Kidding aside, I’m focusing on the YouTube channel to for sure. Like you, I also started mine for last year’s challenge but guess what? Aside from that introduction video I’ve done nothing with it. I haven’t for sure decided what else I am going to focus on yet.
