I live for football season. Even more than Big Brother. GASP, did she just say that?
To the point that I think I’m the only girl in the world that thinks it’s awesome the Super Bowl sometimes lands on her birthday. Stupid leap year messed it up last year. My 40th bday should have been on Super Bowl Sunday and yes, I will hold a grudge against leap year for ever because of it.
Where the hell did a love of football come from?
Football is comfort
Weird ass girl!
I grew up watching football with my Dad every Sunday. Yes, I’m a Daddy’s girl but if you’d said that back then I probably would have killed you with my eyes.
Watching football with Dad was smart business. Who do you think had all the best munchies in the house? It didn’t take me long to figure out to go to the store with him on Saturday night or Sunday morning because he was going to get football food. Since I was going to watch with him I got to choose what junk I wanted too. WINNING!
Watching sports all day together means I was talking to Dad all day. Knowing how my daughter is now and how much alike we are, holy cow how did Dad survive?
But it meant conversations about every team, how the game is played and I’m sure lots of life stuff that I don’t remember. Again, my daughter is my child so I would have shined it on with a,”I know” and an eye roll.
We’re talking years of sitting with Dad watching football. Being a sports girl already it’s only natural that I have a major love of football. Man I married was the high school football star and went to college on a full ride. Now I’m lucky to have a son that loves the sport. In fact we’re off to watch him play his first full game of the season tonight.
Beer and football
Yesterday was opening weekend for the real nfl season. I did not pre-plan this well. There was no beer in the house. Not even some nasty one in the back of the fridge.
Hubby fell asleep before 11 and I had a goal of not leaving the house. This was a huge dilemma. How do I get beer? I mean watching football without beer is against the law right?
My laziness won out and I just suffered through until hubby got up from his nap. As soon as he woke up he went on beer run. Ah, now it’s football season.
I’m excited to see my baby boy play football today. He started on Varsity as a sophomore for kick off and kick off return last Friday but that wasn’t much playing time. I can’t wait to see him on the line taking people DOWN.
He’s worked so hard since last June and it’s time to put up or shut up. I know he’s really nervous about plays but he’s a smart kid and I know he has more memorized than he thinks. Time to see all those months in the weight room pay off!
Are you a football Momma?
