That means the East coast had an extra 3 hours of time to get blog posts up and rant and rave about the failure that is Bieber. I was waiting for it. Especially since this post took me all day to finally publish. Damn head cold.
The teen celeb that so many look up to. The teen celeb that so many girls are in love with and want to date or marry. The same teen celeb that they are probably hoping to find in a boyfriend.
Has it hit yet why I’m pissed there’s nothing blowing up yet?
Your daughter wants to date Justin Bieber
This youtube sensation blew up the world big. From what I could see, he had everything going for him and he was a model of how any kid could do what they wanted.
I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t follow all the gossip but I don’t think I’ve heard a lot of bad press about Usher. To my understanding he had a big part in Biebers music start. I have no idea about any of the other people he was surrounded by when he first started out. Considering is spiral down I can guess he’s now surrounded himself with total winners.
This is the teen idol that your girl wants to be with and hopes her boyfriend is like. Is that who you hope her boyfriend will be? A 19 year old who’s self destructing in front of the world? Hopefully that self destruction won’t kill anyone else in the process.
I’m thankful my daughter is past the pop star age, so I didn’t have to go through Beiber. Been there, done that, lived through Brittany’s transformation to womanhood.
Miley was Ripped Apart by Mommy Bloggers
Miley has been absolutely destroyed by mommy bloggers everywhere for the last couple of years. I am NOT going to defend her as I think she’s embarrassing, but as far as I’ve seen, she’s done nothing that was life threatening to others or even herself. Again, read above, I don’t keep up so feel free to point me in the direction of articles I may have missed. Yes, I know there was the picture of her smoking pot, but there wasn’t a picture of her driving after doing so…that’s my point. She’s not showing a disregard for other lives.
Many have been up at arms about how she’s a role model for girls, how can she act so nasty. She’s only embarrassing herself. If the girls we’ve raised can’t see that, then there’s a bigger issue in the house to deal with.
Why haven’t I seen the mommy blogging world blow up over the Bieb? All the shitty ways he’s acted out over the last few years. Especially now when he was just arrested on drunk driving and drag racing charges. Why is it ok for him to act this way, but perverted Miley is evil incarnate?
He may be causing more issues than you think. Girls are in love with him. Young impressionable girls in their tweens. The world is not going crazy about how bad he’s acting, so that must mean it’s ok for them to look for guys that act like that.
What does that tell our boys? Act like an ass and the girls like you. Treat your neighbors and others with no respect, even the cops, because dude, do you know who I am? The girls are going to love you, it works for Bieber.
How about that for a role model? Who’s possibly doing more damage? Miley or Bieber?
Entertainers Aren’t Role Models
One thing I think everyone has forgotten or maybe never knew to begin with is that sex and trouble sells.
Kids shouldn’t be looking at anyone in the entertainment industry as a role model. Are there exceptions? Totally. But as a rule it’s a bad choice. Even those that are a great role model one minute may need to reinvent themselves. Doing so requires media hype. They may not even do what the media says but their new identity requires it to look like they did. It’s their job to sell their personality and it’s 24/7.
Being in the entertainment industry means you have to sell your persona on and off the screen. We all know if a movie or album is going out you may see some trouble from that singer or actor. It’s instant free publicity, DOH
Why Aren’t Mom Blogs Attacking?
Ah, the reason for my post. Obviously I am never going to understand the Mommy Blogger community. To tell you the truth, I’m glad.
Too often the push is all about girl power and girl role models and girl everything. As Moms I guess I get why. It’s what we know. Who’s reading the blogs? Other female’s. Make some sense that most would be talking about or pushing what they know.
I’m offended that the internet hasn’t blow up more about Biebers arrest than it did about Miley’s Mtv awards show. Her’s was obviously done for shock value in an entertainment venue that’s known for pushing to shock in productions. Not to mention it was an adult oriented show.
This post isn’t anything like it started out to be. We can blame that on a head cold and dayquil. Totally mellowed me out. Sorry, I was ready to rant and rave on this topic. I know I’ve let my readers down and I think I got off topic (big sigh) SQUIRREL
WAIT, I finally put my thoughts together. I’m not kidding, this head cold is making me more unfocused than ever.
That’s why I’m angry. Wait, am I angry anymore?
I don’t remember now.
Is it bedtime yet?
It screams of sexism that the mommy blogging community isn’t as irate about the Biebs as they were about Miley. I can’t stand when boys and girls are held to different standards. I have an 18 year old daughter and 16 year old son, you better believe they have the same standards to live by.
Anyway, you probably get the point. I’m finally hitting publish on this post and ironically, it’s 4:20 BAHAHAHA. I kid you not.
Anyone else noticing a double standard in the media and internet for these two kids that obviously needed stricter parenting?
