Owning my big personality was one of the best things I ever did for my business. After some years of floundering because I was trying to copy what was working for others and definitely hiding my real personality, I took an internship at Love People + Make Money and it changed everything.
I found my specialities and honed in on what I’m good at. Creating engaging communities. That is not just groups on Facebook. Community is everywhere, you just have to figure out which ways will work the best for you. Yes, Facebook groups are one of my favs, but bundles, summits and giveaways really get my attention. I get nerdy excited trying to figure out a new idea for hosting something for a client.
Why do I coach?
Easy answer is because I can’t not.
I have been helping new business owners online for well over 15 years. It comes naturally for me to offer the info I’ve learned over time. I’m a sharer by nature and as I share it reminds me to do what I’m talking about. It helps me remember to continue working on the basics and not overcomplicate things.
As I help with business or online event consulting, coaching plays a key part in it. We need to walk through what the goal is and the steps we’ll use to get there. No matter how long you’ve been online you wil benefit from coaching with the right person. A fresh set of eyes looking at what you are creating can help you skip past steps of frustration.
A Little More Personal
So, I’m Val Selby as you can probably guess by the site name. I’ve lived in the Seattle area for all but a few years of my life.
I’m opinionated, but at 47 I’ve learned to listen much more than I talk. I’m also open to learning from others experiences instead of thinking my way is the only way.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart and our kids are grown. Now it’s all about us and my growing businesses. I want to be able to travel even more when the world opens back up. Laptops thankfully make it possible to work from anywhere.
